Brief About the ministry
The ministry was founded by a royal decree, number (A/472) on 29/12/1440 islamic year, corresponding to 30/8/2019. Since then, all responsibilities and tasks relating to the industrial and mining sectors have been entrusted to the ministry.
The ministry aims to further strengthen of the mentioned sectors and contribute to their ongoing development in accordance with the Saudi Vision 2030. It strategically chose these two sectors to diversify the national economy and increase their overall national contributions through a national industrial program and logistics services to establish the Kingdom as a leading industrial and mining powerhouse, as well as a global platform for logistics services.

A royal decree No. (A/472) on 29/12/1440 AH, 30 August, 2019, which adopted establishing the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and transferring competences, tasks and responsibilities related to the industry and mineral resources sectors. As of 1/1/ 2020 the ministry shall begin its tasks.

Since the launch of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, the Saudi mining sector has witnessed an unprecedented flurry of development efforts. Major investments have been made not only in the field of mining itself, but also in the development and construction of any requirements deemed necessary to make mining and mining industries the third pillar of Saudi industry, and another rich resource of the national economy, along with the oil and petrochemical industries, which have become global significance.
