Industry and Mineral Resources: 50 mining licenses and 92 industrial licenses were issued during the past month
Last August, the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources issued about 50 mining licenses and 92 industrial licenses, while about 97 factories started production operations during the same month, with an annual growth rate of 143% compared to the same month last year. A report issued by the National Center for Industrial and Mining Information indicated that the industrial sector in the Kingdom managed to attract investments amounting to nearly 4 billion riyals during the month of August, while the same sector managed to provide about 7,622 jobs, including 2,999 jobs for Saudis.
The report indicated that 90% of the total new industrial licenses were of national investment, and small factories accounted for about 85% of the total licensed factories, while the Riyadh region acquired the largest proportion of the new licenses with (29) industrial licenses during the same month, followed by the Makkah region. With (25) licenses, then the Eastern Province with 16 licenses. The report added that the new factories that started production during the month of August witnessed an annual growth rate of 143%, compared to the same month last year, as the number of factories that started production reached nearly 97 factories, with a licensed capital of about 917 million riyals. The report indicated that the activity of making rubber and plastics products accounted for the largest number of factories that started production during the last month, with 22 factories, followed by factories working in the manufacture of furniture with 20 factories, while the Riyadh region topped the largest share of the number of new producing factories with 61 factories, in When the small factories that started production during the same period accounted for the largest percentage with 66%, as well as 92% of the factories that started production were with national investment.
The report of the National Center for Industrial and Mining Information indicated that the total number of existing industrial facilities in the Kingdom by the end of August reached 10,159 factories, led by factories working in the production of non-ferrous metals with more than 2,000 factories, while the total volume of investments in the total factories amounted to more than 1,334 trillion riyals. Regarding mining indicators, the report of the National Center for Industrial and Mining Information indicated that the 50 new mining licenses issued by the ministry during the month of August were distributed between 35 quarry licenses, 11 survey licenses, and 4 detection licenses, bringing the total mining licenses up to the end of the period to about 1,813. , topped by building materials licenses with 1,066 licenses, then exploration licenses with 556 licenses. It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, through the National Center for Industrial Information, issues on a monthly basis the most important industrial and mining indicators that explain the nature of the movement of industrial and mining activity in the Kingdom, in addition to revealing the size of the change witnessed by the sector in new industrial and mining investments, in addition to the size of the jobs that attract the two sectors.
