Industry Ministry allocates 7 sites for mining complexes in 4 regions

The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources announced the allocation of sites for establishing seven mining complexes in the regions of Riyadh, Makkah, Asir, and Al-Baha, aiming to develop the mining investment environment in the Kingdom and enhance its transparency and attractiveness to investors.

The official spokesperson of the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mr. Jarrah bin Mohammed Al-Jarrah, explained that the sites allocated for mining activities in the Riyadh region included four locations: the "Tameer 2" complex in Al-Majma’ah Governorate covering an area of 1.99 square kilometers, the Afif Governorate complex with an area of 10.38 square kilometers, the Al-Tairy complex in Rumah Governorate covering 37.88 square kilometers, and the "Al-Dawadmi 6" complex with an area of 30.62 square kilometers.

Al-Jarrah clarified that in the Makkah region, a site was allocated for the East Faydah Al-Maslah complex for mining activities in Ta’if Governorate, covering an area of 25.0089 square kilometers. In the Asir region, a site was designated for the expansion of the Al-Hadbah and Al-Qarain complexes in Bisha Governorate, increasing its total area to 72.78 square kilometers. Meanwhile, in the Al-Baha region, a site was allocated for the North Wadi Al-Hijrah complex in Al-Hijrah Governorate, covering an area of 0.66 square kilometers.

The official spokesperson emphasized that establishing mining complexes reinforces governance principles in the mining sector, increases transparency, boosts investor confidence, and helps protect mining sites from illegal encroachments. It also plays an important role in achieving sustainability in mining projects, highlighting the Ministry’s focus on environmental preservation, occupational health and safety, and encouraging local communities to participate in the growth of the mining sector in accordance with the Mining Investment Law.

Mining complexes contribute to the development of surrounding areas by employing local residents in mining projects, increasing the percentage of purchases from local markets, implementing effective communication plans in the project’s vicinity, raising compliance with environmental requirements at mining activity sites and surrounding communities, and rehabilitating and closing mining sites.
