The National Geological Database is considered the cornerstone of the Kingdom’s mineral wealth and mining information management system. This database contributes to the value of the mining sector as it is one of the main pillars of the economy and the Kingdom’s 2030 vision. Furthermore, the database allows investors and natural researchers to check relevant information online. The database also includes detailed geological surveys, the Kingdom’s mining data, the expedition information to evaluate resources, as well as the data for the geological expedition of the country.

The National Geological Survey also includes in its data plentiful information that has been developed to assist natural researchers and experts; to help the Kingdom’s interests through the activities of the survey in the fields of geological expeditions and studies. The National Geological Database targets the following:

  • Retrieve the multiple geological surveys and prospecting data in the Kingdom; including formerly released geotechnical reports and geological maps.
  • Developing digital analytical tools to better help decision makers and make use of them.
  • Supply base maps and geological maps to the interested parties.
  • Managing the national natural database to give access to relevant individuals and institutions.
  • Provide online services and digital spatial data in both Arabic and English, and develop electronic dictionaries for scientific and technical terms in the fields of mining, map production, and the many applications of natural science.
  • Build and manage the virtual portal for national digging information.
  • Recruit and prepare Saudi personnel for spatial information systems and their applications in the field of natural science.
  • Exchanging scientific data and information in geographical information systems and remote sensing with government agencies, local and international geological and mining companies, and research centers, as well as institutions dealing with natural science.
